Born to Keith and Mary Hudson, Katy’s mother an evangelist and her father was a scenester. The famous singer has Portuguese, English, German and Irish ancestry. David is Katy’s brother who is younger than her and Angela is her sister and she is two years older. Soundtracks of “Sister Act one” and two were the only thing she was allowed to listen to. VH1 and MTV cables were prohibited for both her two siblings and Katy.

At nine years of age she began lessons in singing, by the time she was 13 years of age, the future diva learned playing the guitar.
