50 Cent was born on the 6th of July, 1976 in Queens, New York. The future rap star grew without a father and his mother Sabrina was fifteen when she gave birth. In 2002 everything changed for Fifty. His “Guess Who’s Back” album ended up in the hands of Eminem who really liked what he heard. Few months later Curtis signed with Interscope Records. The hip hop legend has a son named Marquise and what’s more his nickname is 25 Cent.

Early Life

50 Cent started drug dealing when he was twelve years old. His mother was murdered one year later in 1988. Left unconscious in her apartment with the gas fully on she suffocated to death. Curtis then moved to his grandparents. Boxing was something that the young Curtis loved. When he was 14th years old he tried his luck in the Junior Olympics. G-Unit Records was the founded by him in 2003 which signed Tony Yayo, Young Buck, Lloyd Banks and several rappers who were quite successful. He has engaged in feuds with other rappers, from former G-Unit members like Young Buck and The Game to Ja Rule, Rick Ross, Fat Joe, Cam’ron and Jadakiss. In the year 2005 50 Cent played the lead role in” Get Rich or Die Tryin” a movie about his life.

Career

In was in 2003 when the rapper came up with his first “red carpet” album. With over eight hundred thousand copies sold in the opening four days “Get Rich or Die Tryin” was a phenomenal success. The main single “In Da Club” needed just less than a week to break the Billboard most listened to radio song. In 2005 the album “The Massacre” was released to the public. It was so good that it made 50 Cent the first ever solo musician to have 3 songs in the Billboard top five.

During the decade 2000 – 2009 he won many acclaims. He was ranked by The Billboard magazine as the most successful, sixth best and the number one artist in rap. His album, ‘Get Rich or Die Tryin’ was ranked 12th best album with ‘The Massacre’ ranking at 37th place.
