Born in San Luis Obispo, California, Zac Efron made his very first acting appearance at the tender age of eleven. When his father took notice of his ability, he encouraged Zac to go after it and pursue his dream. After taking some singing classes the young prospect started taking part in the musical “Gypsy” and appeared ninety times in it. Efron went to Arroyo Grande High School. His favorite sports include golf, skiing, rock climbing and snowboarding.

Early Life

After a push from his father, the young Efron was introduced to the world of acting.  He performed in the productions “The Music Man”, “Little Shop of Horrors” and “Peter Pan”. At this time the young actor was still going to school. 2002 was the year of Zac’s first television appearance which took place in an episode of Joss Whedon’s “Firefly”. This was followed by a performance in the TV movie “Miracle Run”. Zac also got a permanent role in the serial “Summerland”, where he plays the beloved one of Kay Panabaker. After that followed appearances in the serials “ER” for NBC and “CSI: Miami”

Career

Still a teen star, the breakthrough in Zac Efron’s career came in 2006 with the huge Disney Channel hit movie “High School Musical”. He played the character of Troy Bolton, a popular student and captain of the basketball team. Zac did not expect much out of the movie at first. Though thanks to that movie, Zac’s talent as an actor and a singer was noticed and he became a poster boy in no time.
“High School Musical 2” was released in 2007 and it set a new record becoming the most watched television movie. The raving reviews for his performance kept Zac going on and he ended up playing in “High School Musical 3” in 2008. Efron bagged The MTV movie award for the best male performance thanks to the trilogy.

From here on Zac was seen in mainstream cinema with movies like “17 Again”. In this motion picture he played the younger version of Mathew Perry. Followed by movies like “Hairspray” and “Charlie St. Cloud” under his belt, Zac was born as a star. Transforming from a teen throb to an adult and a romantic hero was a tough transition but Zac did it. The young star also made it to The Forbes Celebrity 100 list in 2008.
