Biography

His mother was of European-American descent and his father had African-American genes. Both of J Cole’s parents served in the United States Army. Everything changed for the future music when his father left them. The rest of the family soon relocated to Fayetteville which is in North Carolina. He was then brought up by his mother and aunt.

Terry Sanford in Fayetteville was The High School that Cole went to. He always remained an ‘A’ student. After that he enrolled in Saint John using an academic scholarship. It was in that university where the rapper on got a major degree in communication and a minor one in business, graduating with great honors. Once that was out of the way J Cole tried his hand at a 9 to 5 job and worked as a debt collector for some time.

Early Life

Cole’s fascination and interest for rapping started in an early age. By 14, J Cole has already learned the foundations of word play and rhyming. He would constantly write tunes in his notebooks, something which his mother noticed and soon after took action. She bought him a beat machine that did help him produce his own music. He later started posting his music on lots of different internet forums using the “Therapist” as his moniker.

Career

J Cole’s career started by standing outside Jay-Z’s office! Believe it or not but even after standing for a long time there, he was shunned by his mentor-to-be. But as luck would have it, J Cole appeared on Jay Z’s album “The Blueprint 3” in year 2009. He also released his mixtape, “The Warm Up” on June 15, 2009.

Within a year, in 2010, J Cole was recognized amongst the 50 Great Breakthrough Artists. On March 31, he performed a new song titled “Who Dat”, it was his first single from the debut album.

J Cole also did a college tour that started in 2007 and ended in 2010 in New Brunswick, New Jersey. His mixtape “The Warm Up” became so popular that he celebrated its anniversary by releasing a freestyle titled “The Last Stretch”. His mixtape also got him the Underground Music Awards Male Artist of the Year award in 2010.

To honor the second anniversary of his famous mixtape The Warm up, J Cole released a new single “Work Out” in 2011. It sampled some of the most distinguished singers like Kanye West and Paula Abdul. So now do you know how tall is J.Cole?
