Biography

Ronald Fenty is Rihanna’s father. He works at a factory for garments as their warehouse supervisor. Monica Braithwaite is Rihanna’s mother, she’s an accountant (retired). Robyn’s mom is a Guyana native whereas her dad is of a Barbadian-Irish descent. Rihanna’s the eldest out of 3 siblings; she has 2 brothers, both younger to her. Also, she has 2 step sisters along with a step brother (father’s side) from her father’s first wife before he married Rihanna’s mother.

Early Life

Rihanna grew up enjoying reggae music and started singing when she was about 7 years old. Her early days were deeply plagued by her dad’s dependence on cocaine, crack, marijuana and alcohol. Rihanna’s parents’ went through a rocky marriage that came to an end when she was only 14 years old, although, her father still remained an important part of her life.

Rihanna grew up living in a humble 3-bed apartment in Bridgetown where she often sold clothes along with her father on street stalls. The future star was a student at the Charles F. Broome Memorial School, from where she went to Combermere School, and formed a melodic trio along with 2 other classmates. Not only this, Rihanna also has been a military cadet at a sub-military program which trained with the armed forces in Barbados and Shontelle happened to be her drill sergeant. Even though she aimed at graduating high school, later she chose to drop out from school since she was excessively busy chasing her career in music.

Career

Rihanna’s introduction album was “Music of the Sun” (2005) and became amongst the #10 on the Billboard 200 & sold 69,000 records in the 1st week.

“A Girl Like Me” came next in the year 2006, reaching #5 on the billboard 200, & sold a whooping 1, 150, 000 copies and went platinum in the first week.

“Good Girl Gone Bad” came in 2007, followed by “Rated R” in 2009. Her collaboration with rapper Eminem for “Love The Way You Lie” became the #1 on the hottest billboard 100.
