Biography

Rick Ross was born William Roberts the 2nd on January 28, 1977 in Coahoma County, Mississippi. His childhood was spent in the impoverished area of Carol City, Florida, and he grew up in the thick influence of rap culture. Carol City Senior was the high school the future hip artist graduated from. Thanks to a football scholarship Rick was able to attend the University Of Albany State.

Working as a correction officer in the 90’s did not help the rapper to be arrested himself on marijuana and gun charges. Drug Trafficking is another accusation that had been thrown at the Florida stand out. The musician got the idea of his nickname form the The Los Angelis Drug kingpin “Rick Ross”.

Early Life

The heavily tattooed, 300 pound Miami rapper Rick Ross started with his debut single, “Hustlin” in 2006. He was influenced by artist like Roberts, B.I.G the notorious Luther Campbell with whom he found a group called “Carol City Cartel” which later on gave him the opportunity to sign with Suave House Records, the home of 8BAll & MJG. With this he climbed up the ladder of fame being noticed for his talents by Slip N Slide Record who signed him immediately. This is when he came to be known as Rick Ross and made his acquaintance with Trick Daddy and Trina, the hip hop heavy weights. He was normally treated as a guest, either in an artist’s album or mixed tapes.

Career

With offers from P.Diddy’s Bad Boy and Records to Irv Gotti’s The Inc it’s clear that Rick Ross has finally made it. He was lucky to be grabbed by Russell Simmons and Rick Rubin’s Def. Jam label. 2006, March was when “Hustlin” peaked at number eleven on The U.S. Hot Hip-Hop and R&B Chart. The single was certified with Gold from RIAA and sold over millions of ring tones. “Port of Miami” was released the same year and it is his ever album. His one single production earned him The No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 200, crossing one lakh eighty seven thousand copy sales in the 1st week. In 2007 Rick released his 2nd album “Trilla” which was inspired by his idol’s Michael Jacksons “Triller”.
