Biography

Lady Gaga was the first child born to Joseph Germanotta, an entrepreneur and Cynthia Louise (née Bissett). Gaga is the elder of two siblings. She was introduced to music at the age of 4 when she started playing the piano. Later the future icon went to a private convent school called “Convent of the Sacred Heart „on the Upper East Side of Manhattan since the age of 11. She applied to the University of New York for studding performance and drama. Lady Gaga also wrote her first piano ballad when she was only 13 years old.

Early life

Lady Gaga recorded a few songs for the hip hop singer Grandmaster Melle Mel. Later on Gaga Band together with her friends from the University of New York ,Calvin Pis as the guitarist, Eli Silverman as the bassist and Alex Beckham as the drummer, formed a band called The Stefani Germanotta. She has also played leading roles in movies like “Guys and Dolls”, “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” and also appeared on the television series “The Sopranos”. She was named the Top Fashion Buzzword by the Global Language Monitor.

Career

Lady Gaga shifted to Los Angeles for completing her debut album Fame (2008). The album climbed the charts and gained huge popularity in countries like U.K, Canada, Ireland, Switzerland etc. The album has sold more than fourteen million copies. Her single “Just Dance” topped charts and she also received a nomination at the Grammy Awards for the “Best Dance” recording. Another single by her “Poker face” also won an award at the Grammy for “Best Dance of the year” in the year 2010.

Her recent album “Born This Way” (released May 23, 2011) debuted at the top of the Billboard Hot 100.
